MORE than 70 runners took part in the third annual Curry Mallet 10k road race.

The event, in aid of Curry Mallet Primary School, also included a 2k fun run for children.

The main run was between Fivehead and Curry Mallet, where schoolchildren had made a banner thanking the participants for their support.

Race organiser Ben Barton said: “The day was a great success. The families who took part in the fun run thoroughly enjoyed themselves, with parents and grandparents jogging behind with pushchairs and buggies.

“All of the children and parents completed the course, encouraged and supported by numerous villagers and spectators.

“The 10k road race was also well attended and all runners received a medal, with a number of runners receiving a laser-cut crystal running cube for first, second and third in 10 different categories.”
