Minehead suffered the narrowest of defeats as visitors Old Bristolians and Westbury reached their target with nine wickets down on the final ball of the match in the WEPL Bristol and Somerset Division.
After winning the toss, Minehead failed to bat out almost six of their 50-over allocation as they were dismissed for just 183. Captain Andrew Woodward led the way with 79 and Gary Bennett contributed 28, but there will little else to write home about.
Minehead took two early wickets, but the remainder of Old Bristolians’ top order made contributions to put their side on top.
A clatter of wckets put Minehead right back in the hunt but the visitors were able to scrape home with Will Penny finishing 52 not out.
Spinner Tom Wright snapped up 3-42 from 15 overs for Minehead.
