STUDENTS at Ladymead Community School in Taunton are celebrating their best ever GCSE results.

The school says 50% of students achieved five or more A*-C grades, including English and Mathematics, while 64% of students got five or more A*-C grades.

Acting head teacher Jon Burton said: “It is very fitting that Ladymead’s last results should be their best, and a particularly good way to celebrate the school’s 50th year.

“These results show that our students have really taken their studies seriously and they have worked tremendously hard for these results – they are a credit to themselves, their families and the school, and we are all very proud of their achievements.

“One of the many impressive features of these results is that so many pupils achieved such outstanding results in each of the core subjects of English, maths and science.

“However, the results in all subject areas are excellent and have not been achieved by chance. This success has been a real team effort across the school and has been the result of a very strong programme of intervention and support for all our GCSE students.

“Mentoring and help with revision, support for coursework, motivational speakers and a drive to involve parents are all strategies which have been used this year. Individual teachers have worked tirelessly with individual pupils – explaining the high quality of outcomes in these results.”
