THE quality of arts provision at Bishop Fox’s Community School, Taunton, has been recognised with an Arts Council of England Gold Artsmark Award for the third time.

The school has now been presented with a gold plaque to mark the hat trick.

The Gold Artsmark Award recognises schools that provide wide access to the arts through their curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

A school spokeswoman said: “The criteria needed to achieve the Gold Award are demanding but the dedication of staff and students at Bishop Fox’s has shown that the arts make up a vibrant part of the school’s life.”

Bishop Fox's encourages students to take their introduction to the arts in key stage 3 subjects, through to study art, music, dance, drama, media studies, textiles, graphic design, and English Literature in depth at key stage 4.

Lunch times and after school clubs, workshops and study visits in the arts are thriving, with exhibitions and performances being an integral part of the school calendar.
