YEAR 11's at The St Augustine of Canterbury School are celebratiing their GCSE results.

Headteacher Gail Crees said: "The pupils have worked very hard for their GCSE's and there are some outstanding individual results.

"These pupils have been at St Augustines during some difficult times and have worked very closely with their teachers to achieve these results.

"The school is now in a position to move forward with an excellent staff and record SAT results this year."

There were some outstanding individual performances: 11 GCSE's A*-C Kirsty Walker and Matthew Cridland.

10 GCSE's A* - C Michelle Stone, Ellen Batstone and James Counsell.

9 GCSE's A* - C Samantha Boucher, Heather Macintyre, Elliot White and Ben Collins.

Also outstanding were the GCSE result for year 10 pupils who were entered a year early.

In Art and Design the pass rate for grades A*-C was 100% with Helen Gentile achieving an A* with maximum marks.

Geography also achieved a 100% pass rate for A* - C.

These students are now on course to achieve 12/13 GCSE's next year.

There were also excellent subject results: Chemistry, Statistics, Photography and Portuguese all had 100% A*-C pass rates whilst French achieved 92% A* - C.

As a joint foundation church school, the Religious Studies results were superb with 82% of students achieving an A*-C grade.
