STAPLEGROVE Primary School has been branching out - planting 200 'wee trees' in its newly created forest area.
The trees, also known as whips or hedging plants, were sourced from a local grower and include hawthorn, blackthorn and guilder rose.
The move came after pupils, parents, staff and governors were given the chance to 'adopt a wee tree' by making a small donation and helping with the planting.
Head teacher Kirsti Nelson said: “We wanted the hedge to really belong to the school in its widest sense and felt that by helping to plant the trees, people would become stakeholders in the creation of a fabulous natural resource.”
