A 13-WEEK engineering project to redesign a major junction in Taunton has overrun.
The scheme at the junction of Station Road, Bridge Street and Staplegrove Road, has caused tailbacks around town for about 13 weeks.
It is part of the ‘Third Way’ project, a new road linking Bridge Street to Wellington Road which has seen a new bridge over the Tone constructed.
The junction work started on March 20 was due to finish on June 17 but work is still underway.
This week a county council spokesman said: “They have finished the heavy duty work and there remains some cabling to be installed and safety testing to be carried out.
“We expect the work to be finished late this week or next week.
“Once that is complete the temporary traffic lights will be removed and the permanent lights switched on.”
