DANESFIELD Middle School in Williton emerged victorious from the County Middle Schools Athletic Competition after coming first in both the year 7 and year 8 boys’ categories.
The school also finished third in both girls’ competitions.
The event, held at Yeovil Athletics Arena, saw Danesfield sprinter Elliot Scott set a new record in the under 14 boys’ 200m with a time of 24.4 seconds. The previous record was set in 1996.
Alastair Warren, head of PE at Danesfield, said: “It makes me very proud to see the children of the school doing so well in such events where competition is of a high standard.
“The school works hard to develop its athletes and helps them to strive to be the best they can.”
