Taunton and Wellington will stop this morning to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our nation.

The annual two minutes silence will be held on The Parade, in Taunton town centre, at 11am.

A civil service at St Mary’s at 9.30am on Sunday will be followed by a veterans’ parade and march past the Old Municipal Buildings, in Corporation Street at 10.30am.

It will be followed by a service at the War Memorial in Vivary Park at 10.50am.

The dedication of the Field of Remembrance took place at St Mary Magdalene Church, Taunton, yesterday, with an interdenominational church service in the Lawns Club, in Mary Street, in the evening.

Meanwhile, a service of remembrance is being held in Wellington Park at 3pm on Sunday.

Other communities are also holding events.

And 40 Commando Royal Marines are holding a service of remembrance on Cothelstone Hill today.
