A 44-YEAR-OLD man is recovering in hospital following a collision between a bus and a car on the A358.

The male driver of a blue Citroen Picasso was injured after his vehicle collided with the number 28 Minehead-Taunton service at 4.30pm on Thursday, January 5 near to Bishops Lydeard.

The man, from the West Somerset area, was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton with chest injuries, which police described as "serious but not life-threatening".

The road was closed for eight hours after the accident for the vehicles to be removed, finally reopening at 1.40am on Friday, January 6.

Seven people on the bus, including the driver, were also said to have been injured following the crash.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
