THE owner of Lloyds’ World of Sausages in Trull has received national recognition at an awards ceremony.
Lloyd Sprague, 23, entered a national roadshow competition last year and picked up his awards in Lancashire last week.
He scooped gold for his pork, apple and cider sausage, and his traditional pork classic, along with a silver for his pork and leek sausage.
He said: “I thought I had no chance because there are a lot of good sausage producers in the north of England.
“The trick to a good sausage it getting your ratios right by using good ingredients.”
The judging panel included Noddy Holder and members of the British Pig Executives, who marked the sausages on flavour, aroma, texture and whether they split during cooking.
Lloyd now plans to enter the Southern Taste of the West Awards in April.
