A RANGE of beauty treatments on offer at a pamper evening raised more than £400 for a Minehead school.

More than 50 ladies attended the event at Minehead Rugby Club, where 15 therapists from around the area offered aromatherapy, reflexology, nail and hair treatments among others.

Entry and a choice of two sessions cost £5, while a picture quiz and raffle helped boost funds to rebuild St Michael's First School's swimming pool.

Secretary of the school's PTA Kate Atkins said: “It was a fun, girly night - everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

“Of course it was mainly to raise money for the school's pool, but it also helped to raise the profile of local businesses who offered their services.”

The school is now half way to its £70,000 target, but needs help to reach that before the summer, when it hoped to start work on the pool.
