THE Community Council of Devon has announced new funding available to community organisations to improve and adapt local buildings, such as village halls and community centres.
The grants which range from £5,000 to £20,000, can be used for a range of projects, such as improving disabled access, modernising outdated facilities, installing solar panels or ground source heating, and kitchen refits or roof replacements.
Devon County Council has provided the £400,000 grant funding.
David Kinross, Senior Projects Officer for the Community Council of Devon, said: “This new grant scheme will provide much needed capital funding for community buildings to improve their services to communities.”
Cllr Roger Croad, Devon County Council's Cabinet Member for Communities, added: “I am pleased that this money will help improve such facilities and ensure community buildings will continue to be available for our residents to make good use of for years to come.”
For application and guidance forms for the scheme please visit the Community Council of Devon website www.devonrcc.org.uk. The next deadline for applications is July 31.
