A RUNNER from Wellington completed the London Marathon after pounding more than 26 miles through the capital city.

Caroline Swan completed the course in five hours and 17 minutes for the NSPCC who care for thousands of children from across the UK that have suffered severe harm and neglect.

Caroline also ran for Camille’s Appeal and has raised around £750.

She said: “I chose to run for the NSPCC this year as it’s such a worthwhile cause. ChildLine in particular is a valuable thing for children to have access to.”

"I really enjoyed the whole experience on the day. The only negative was staying focussed during the odd times that there wasn’t much crowd noise, but nothing was going to stop me finishing the 26.2 miles.

“Having to prise numerous jelly babies off the bottom of my shoes and weaving around walkers definitely wasn’t something I had planned for!”

Donna Statham, NSPCC community fundraising manager for Somerset said: "Don't run your marathon alone - join our team and be part of something amazing. We'll support you every step of the way and you'll make a real difference for a child who needs someone to turn to."
