SOMERSET'S director of public health is advising people to get themselves checked by their GP if they have any of the symptoms of lung cancer such as a cough lasting for three weeks or more, repeated chest infections, coughing up blood, breathlessness, feeling more tired than usual, losing weight or an ache or pain in your chest or shoulder that has lasted for some time.

Dr Caroline Gamlin said: “Your GP will take your symptoms seriously and if they are concerned they may send you for a chest X-ray which is quick and simple and nothing to worry about.”
