Young carers group saved after appeal in County Gazette

A YOUNG carers group has been saved from closing down after two volunteers came forward to join their board of directors.
The County Gazette ran an appeal for people to join Caring Minds' board in April to stop the not-for-profit organisation folding.
And this week, during National Carers Week, the group were proud to announce that David Waddilove, of Taunton, and Kay Fendle, of Wellington, will join them.
It means that the group can apply for funding which is crucial to their continuing work to provide young carers with choices, help and youth groups.
Kay said: “I grew up with family members with mental health issues so I have experienced what it is like.
David added: “This is the kind of project needs the recognition for the work it does.”
The group was set up by Natasha Jordan, who was a young mental health carer herself, to fill a gap which could be left by Somerset County Council cuts to services from next April.
