THE rain held off as hundreds of people enjoyed family fun at Oake Fete.

There was plenty on offer for people of all ages, including stalls, bouncy castles, tractor rides, face-painting, games and competitions.

Dave Sedgwick, chairman of the Oake and District Hall committee, said: “It was very successful and we were tremendously lucky with the weather.”

Inside the village hall, there was also a photography competition, which received about 60 entries.

Organiser David Roots said: “The entries were of a high standard and provided an added centre of interest at the fete.

“It is the first time we have done the competition and it is probably something we will do again in the future.”

The fete raised about £2,800, to be split between the village hall and the local primary school.
