IPCC in new tunnel investigation IPCC in new tunnel investigation

THE Independent Police Complaints Commission is to investigate the way in which Avon and Somerset Constabulary dealt with the disappearance of Somerset couple Rosemary Snell and Michael Rolfe.

Mrs Snell, 67, of Misterton, near Crewkerne, and Mr Rolfe, 72, of Fivehead, near Taunton, had been missing for more than a week before their bodies were found in their car which had been crushed by rubble and mud in a landslip at the entrance to Beaminster tunnel on the A3066 in neighbouring Dorset.

They had been missing since the landslip on July 7, but it was not until July 16 that Avon and Somerset officers made their colleagues in Dorset aware that Mrs Snell and Mr Rolfe had been in the Beaminster area at the time of their disappearance.

The IPCC police watchdog has already said it was happy with the way Dorset Police had dealt with the matter from their end.

9 days before they contacted dorset police thats by avon and somerset standards is good. I waited a month before they investiagted fraudulent use of my card. Then they said the CCTV evidence was gone as the shop only kept it 4 weeks. They spent another month interviewing twp suspects. Then turned around and told me that they had a good idea who did it but without the cctv evidence they were stuck. I complained that had the responded in Feb when I reported it rather than in march when I chased up what had happened they could of recovered the cctv. They have yet to give me answer as to why. Beautiful policing. If only they were so laxidasical when dealing with speeding offences.
