FAMILIES flocked to Vivary Park last weekend for the rescheduled It's Childsplay event.

Washed out back in May, the weather held this time for the Taunton Vale Rotary Club extravaganza which raised money for the Children's Hospice South-West.

Participants got themselves sponsored to walk, hop, cycle or wheel themselves any distance to the Taunton park where a host of attractions and entertainment awaited on Sunday (September 2).

Children enjoyed a bouncy castle, games, face painting, hat making, story telling, lucky dip and refreshments.

Club president Steve Jenkins said: “There were real concerns the current financial climate might reduce people’s ability to give and that the delay caused by the floods might stem their enthusiasm. But neither has really proved to be the case.

“We are particularly pleased Oake Manor Golf club will be donating the proceeds from the raffle held at the recent Party in the Park.

“And the total will be further swelled by proceeds from the car parking at the forthcoming Pontispool Horse Trials.”
