A CYCLIST who fell off his bike in Watchet is understood to be in a critical condition.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, was treated outside Knights Templar First School, on Liddymore Road, at around 2.45pm on Tuesday (September 4).

He was then airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with serious head injuries.

Onlooker Barbara Middleton, who helped the man after the fall, said: "When I came out of the school, the man was on the ground, so me and my husband helped to put the him in the recovery position while another man called the ambulance.

“I was in total admiration and awe of the skill with which the paramedics came and dealt with it all.”
