Lula with an adopted friend in camp in Kandahar
A FAMILY sponsored walk will help raise money to rescue stray and abandoned animals in Afghanistan.
Lucy Ledger is organising the event in aid of the Nowzad Dogs charity, which reunites our military personnel with their ‘battle buddy’ cats and dogs adopted during their tour of duty.
Following 40 Commando Royal Marines’ last mission in Afghanistan in 2010, Dave the dog, named in memory of Marine Dave Hart who was killed in action, and Dexter the puppy were brought to live in this country with the help of Nowzad.
The sponsored walk in Hawthorne Park, off Rowan Drive, at 1.30pm on Sunday, October 14, is open to anyone.
Nowzad dog Lula, rescued by an ex-paratropper in Kandahar in 2010, will be there.
