STUDENTS at Huish Episcopi Academy are making ‘good progress’, according to the school’s OFSTED report released this week.

The Academy, renamed from Huish Episcopi School in September 2010, was one of the first schools in the country to be inspected under the new framework.

Principal Graham Roff said the framework introduced in September means inspectors mark on tougher criteria and that he was pleased with the outcome.

He added: “The inspectors were very impressed with our school and acknowledge the many strengths and areas of success.

“They have given us a couple of areas to work on in terms of the sixth form and teaching but we are always looking for improvements anyway.”

The report says that students achieve ‘good academic outcomes regardless of ability, starting point or special educational need’.

It also described the sixth form as ‘firmly established’ and ‘an important aspect of the academy’s provision and is helping to raise students’ aspirations further.
