Santa needs a grotto as Wellington's Christmas plans gather pace

WINTER is on its way and Santa’s looking for a grotto.

Shop owners are coming together once again to provide street entertainment in the run-up to Christmas as they bid to draw people in to the town.

And a Santa’s grotto – something which proved a big hit with families last year – is again on the agenda.

Sam Parr of Cloud9 and the Wellington Trade Association, said: “We’re definitely going to have the grotto again because that worked really well last year.

“We’re not sure what else at the moment but we’re trying to come up with ideas that will prove to be popular.

“We’ve got a lot to offer here and we want to make it fun for families after the success of last year.”

Traders met up last month to discuss other suggestions to make sure Wellington outshines rival towns.

Sam added: “As yet we have nowhere for the grotto – we need people to come forward and help us out to make it the best we possibly can.”
