West Buckland Friendship Club

ON Thursday, January 26, more than 70 people gathered at West Buckland Village Hall to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the club.

The event, which was organised by the club chairman Denis Cottle, provided members with a steel drum duo who went under the name of Pandango, a magnificent buffet and refreshments both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Members said that the event had been very enjoyable.

In addition to club members we were delighted to welcome representatives from Engage, South West Foundation and You Can Do, who constantly support the objectives of the club. We were also pleased to welcome Tesco who came along to see what the club was all about.

Many thanks to Jackies for providing the catering, the Worlds End for manning the bar and to Penny for providing the anniversary cake.

The next meeting of the club is on February 2, at 10.30am, in West Buckland Village Hall where the speaker for the day will be Yvette Staelens, whose subject will be the “The Lost Singers of Somerset”.
