PUPILS from Danesfield School in Williton got their teeth into a range of stories and tales as a reading incentive scheme boosted book-borrowing figures last week.
The youngsters were given six weeks to achieve a minimum of 100 reading points with each book in the school library allocated a certain amount of points - ranging from ten points for a short fiction book to 30 for an autobiography.
Prizes were then awarded to the boy and girl in years five, six, seven and eight achieving the most points in recognition of their efforts.
Organiser of the reading challenge, head of English Jane Burton said borrowing figures at the school library and Williton and Watchet libraries increased as a result of the scheme.
She said: "We were delighted with the large number of children who got involved with the challenge and we would like to thank staff at Williton and Watchet libraries who supported us with the project."
