THIS is the face of the new £20 note that will enter circulation in 2020.

It features a self-portrait of one of our greatest artists J. M. W. Turner and his painting The Fighting Temeraire.

He was chosen from a list of public nominations - the first time the Bank of England has asked who should appear on a specific banknote.

The note, to be made of polymer, will eventually replace the current £20 notwhich features economist Adam Smith.

The five people appearing on banknotes by 2020 will be Winston Churchill (£5); Jane Austen (£10); Turner (£20); and Matthew Boulton and James Watt, who will remain on the £50 note.
