AN INQUEST into the death of Ilton man Wilfred Isaacs has been opened and adjourned, awaiting a murder trial.
Mr Isaacs, 48, died from gunshot wounds at Chubbards Cross caravan park in Ilton, Ilminster, on May 5, sparking a police man hunt.
Opening the inquest into Mr Isaac's death on June 22, the Senior Coroner for Somerset, Tony Williams, was given an update from Detective Inspector Lorna Dallimore, who is in charge of the case.
DI Dallimore said that at 7.55pm on May 5, police were called to the caravan site with reports of two people having been allegedly shot.
She said: "One of those people had catastrophic injuries.
"Mr Isaacs passed away a short time later."
A post mortem showed that Mr Isaacs had suffered a shotgun wound to his abdomen and his pelvis.
"Of the nine people arrested in connection with the shooting, four have been charged," she added.
"Three of those were in custody and the others were on bail."
Four people have been charged in connection with the incident.
Charlie Broadway, 23 and William Broadway, 18, are charged with murder, attempted murder and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
John Broadway, 37, is also accused of attempted murder and firearms offences.
Bonnie Broadway, 29 is charged with assisting an offender.
Mr Williams adjourned the inquest, stating that any criminal proceedings must take priority over his own investigations.
The trial date is set for October 24.
