SOME mixed weather following last night's spectacular thunderstorm in Somerset.

Photographer Laurence Douglas-Greene captured the amazing shot at the top of the article from Wembdon Hill in the early hours.

As for today's weather forecast it should be largely dry and cloudy at first today, with murky conditions around southwest coasts. Some bright and warm spells likely in the east. Scattered showers will develop into the afternoon, possibly with some localised thundery downpours.

Tonight will see scattered heavy showers continuing this evening, gradually moving eastwards. Patchy rain will then affect many places overnight, but turning dry for many by dawn. A fresher night than of late.

There is a yellow weather warning still in place until 10pm tonight for rain but the worst of the weather was thought to be in the early hours of this morning.
