THE way a society treats its vulnerable people says a lot about the people living there.

Here are two contrasting stories that happened in Somerset this week.

Both were phoned in to a 999 police phone operator.

First the bad - a report was made to Avon and Somerset Police and involved an 86-year-old man being bothered in his own home by young people throwing stones at his house.

Police operator Lisa tweeted her dismay at the incident.

Somerset County Gazette:

Her tweet outlined how an elderly man found walking the street in his pyjamas was taken in by people who saw him.
