MEET Nathan James Orchard, Taunton's first baby of 2018.

The healthy baby boy was born at 1.10am on New Year's Day at Musgrove Park Hospital and first-time parents, Emma Bull and Nathan Orchard are thrilled.

"We both put bets on when he was going to come but I said he was going to be born on New Year's Eve," Emma said.

"I was induced at 37 weeks, late on New Year's Eve and was so surprised because an hour later he entered the world."

Nathan James Orchard weighed 5lbs 16oz and the new parents said they 'couldn't be happier'.

"We are over the moon," Emma said.

"He is just so perfect and now we have our perfect little family."

Amy and Louise Davis-Smith from Ilchester were also celebrating as Amy gave birth to a little baby boy.

The little boy, who has yet to be named, was born at around 8am, weighing in at 3lbs 9oz.

First-time parents, Amy and Louise, went through four rounds of IVf to get their little bundle of joy but said they 'wouldn't change it for the world'.

"We privately funded four rounds of IVF treatment and when we found out we were pregnant, it was amazing," Amy said.

"I was induced at 30 weeks so he is a little small but he is doing amazing."

The couple originally went to Yeovil Hospital but were transferred to Musgrove Park Hospital to deliver their little boy.

"The staff here have been absolutely fantastic, they have all been so kind and great at keeping us both calm during the birth," Louise said.

"He is our little miracle and now we have a little family, it will be great to take him home.

"He is just beautiful."
