MORE snow is set to hit Somerset today as a yellow weather warning is in place.

The Met Office's yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in place until 11.55pm today (March 2).

A yellow weather warning will then be in place from 12.05am tomorrow (March 3).

The county is due to see heavy snowfall between 11am and 1pm today.

A 'major incident' has been declared in the Avon and Somerset area following severe weather across the region.

The declaration was requested by the Somerset Partnership NHS Trust, Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Musgrove Park Hospital and supported by South Western Ambulance Service, over concerns essential staff were unable to get to their place of work due to the snow.
