A NEW family-run interior design store has opened its doors in Wellington.

Kin Lifestyle officially opened on Saturday, March 11, in North Street.

Alice Baldwin, 23, has undertaken the business venture with mum Helen after the pair decided to open the store because of the town’s reputation for thriving independent stores.

Helen wanted to try something different in life after working in a children’s nursery and Alice had just graduated from Bath Spa University with a textiles degree and has put her skills to good use, with the store featuring a collection of items selected by the duo.

Alice said: “It is really exciting, we are really into interiors. There is a story and a meaning behind everything we have in store.

“Me and mum get along really well and we have similar tastes. My strong point is styling. We’ve set out the shop like it is a home already, it is all styled.”

The pair said that working with local suppliers in the area is really important to them, and that the new store really complements the other shops around Wellington.

“We really wanted to be independent, so this was really the best way to do it,” Alice added.

“We definitely want to have a good relationship with other shops in the area, we can work together to really make Wellington a destination.

“I hope it’ll be really successful, I’d love to watch our business grow.”

The shop is open from Tuesday to Saturday. Opening hours are from 9.30am until 5.30pm on weekdays and 4.30pm on Saturday.
