YOUNGSTERS from Wellington will be trying their hands at politics as they head to Somerset’s Children’s Parliament.

On Friday, March 24, pupils from 12 different schools will be taking part in the event at Shire Hall, Taunton.

There school’s participating are: Beech Grove Primary School, Brent Knoll Primary School, Martock Primary School, Minehead Middle School, Oake, Bradford and Nynehead Primary School, St Andrew’s Junior School, St James Church School, St Mary’s VC Primary School, Wellsprings Primary School, West Buckland Primary School, West Chinnock Primary, and Westonzoyland Primary.

A spokesman from Beech Grove Primary School said pupils will be presenting on Wellington Monument: “The school council became very passionate about raising support and awareness for the site making contact with the National Trust who are currently in the process of raising money to preserve and enhance the site.

“They chose this as the topic to present at Somerset‘s Children Parliament because they believe it should be repaired so future generations can create valued memories of life in Wellington.”
