A WELLINGTON woman is braving the shave for Cancer Research UK.

Reagan Sheridan, a 21-year-old photographer, is going under the clippers in order to raise money after a close friend of hers started losing their battle to cancer.

Miss Sheridan will be going from shoulder-length hair to a grade three cut, but isn’t letting her fear get the best of her as this isn’t the first time she’s taken a risky hair decision.

Miss Sheridan said: “I am doing it mainly in a tribute for a wonderful person who is currently dealing with this heartbreaking disease. Why should we let anyone else suffer and lose their loved ones to cancer?

“It’s not the first time I have done something crazy. I am petrified, I am really not sure how it is going to look but you have to remember that it is only hair and hair always grows back.”

Her hair will be cut by Georgia Allen from The Mount salon in Wellington at her mum’s house in Taunton on Sunday, April 23, and it will be live streamed on Facebook while she goes through a series of silly styles before she finishes with the fully-shaved cut.

Ashley Webber from Ashley’s Barber Shop will be shaving a Cancer Research UK ribbon into the back of her newly-styled hair at a later date after the big event.

As well as her brave haircut, Miss Sheridan will also be undertaking a photography project where she takes a photo of her new cut once a week for six months to document the growing back process.

Miss Sheridan has so far raised more than £100, but hopes to raise £250.
