A WELLINGTON shopping venue has chosen which charity it will support this year.

The Emporium Somerset, which houses more than 50 different shops, has chosen The Silver Line to benefit from its various charity events over the next 12 months.

The Silver Line operates a national helpline for lonely and isolated older people.

Claire Lindfield, head of corporate partnerships at The Silver Line, said: “We are thrilled that The Emporium Somerset has selected us as its Charity of the Year.

“All the support we receive is vital to the service we provide.”

The service says it recieves 10,000 calls a week.

Cato Cooper, co-owner of The Emporium Somerset, said-: “The Silver Line does amazing work with lonely and isolated older people and we are super excited to be supporting it as our Charity of the Year.

“We are really looking forward to fundraising in aid of the charity during the coming 12 months.”

Collection boxes will be in place and events will take place throughout the year until July 2018.
