WELLINGTON'S heart is broken this morning as one of the well-loved swans who calls the Basins home has reportedly died.
A photo of the swan, thought to be the cob, has emerged on social media.
It is believed there is no sign of physical damage to the bird so cause of death remains a mystery at this time.
Saddened residents have taken to social media to describe their emotions regarding the bird's death.
Many have fond memories of watching the two swans care for their cygnets as they walked through the scenic Basins.
Some residents posted about how they had seen the family earier that day looking well.
The RSPCA has been contacted for comment.
