A POST box in Trull near Taunton which was painted gold to honour Paralympic equestrian rider Deb Criddle will remain gold permanently.

Royal Mail has announced today that all the painted boxes across the UK will keep their golden colour for good.

The box, in Church Road, will also have a plaque added to it commemorating Deb's gold medal in the Equestrian: Mixed Individual Freestyle Test - Grade III.

Moya Greene, of Royal Mail, said; "We are delighted at the way people took to this simple idea. The gold boxes gave communities even more opportunity to mark the successes of Team GB and Paralympics GB - and became a part of local celebrations of London 2012 across the UK.

"I am pleased to confirm these post boxes will be kept gold permanently."
