A VOID in the community has been filled with the re-opening of the village pub after 18 months of closure.

The Chapel Inn and Restaurant was officially opened by the Mayor of Taunton Deane, Cllr Terry Hall, with hundreds of people of all ages dropping in to raise a glass for the occasion.

The grand opening also raised £680 for Children in Need and 40 Commando through a raffle and other activities.

Manager Sam Groody said: “People are so happy to have a pub back in the village and there has been a real community feel.

“Everyone has said how nice it is to have a focal point in Cotford again.

“We’d like to thank everyone in the village and beyond for their support – we’re getting really positive feedback.”

Food will be served at the pub from today (Thursday), and plans include coffee mornings, a games room and a take-away service.
