PUPILS at St George’s Primary School in Taunton have collected 28 boxes of sweets to send to Royal Marines from 40 Commando serving in Afghanistan.
Owen Mitchell, Harry Vanzyn, Harvey-Jon Terry and Hannah Wood, of Year 6, organised the Christmas treat, and Owen’s father and grandmother took the goodies to the post office to send off.
St George’s head teacher Peter Hanratty said: “It’s so pleasing to see the generous thoughts of our children who are always looking at ways to help others.
“This term they’ve collected Christmas boxes for the Samaritans’ Purse, raised funds for Children in Need, sent food boxes to The Open Door for the homeless and collected for CAFOD.
“Already they’re planning other fundraisers for after Christmas.
“I’m very proud of their kind efforts and thoughtfulness towards others.”
