THE Taunton Academy will be saying goodbye to its head of visual and performing arts, Huw Weston, with an end-of-term Christmas Concert on Monday, December 17.

The event, from 6.30pm to 8pm, will be a celebration of the many wonderful pupils that attend the Academy now as well as the return of a vast number of past pupils who achieved great success while studying music during their time at The Academy and who performed in the successful productions, We Will Rock You, Disco Inferno and Grease.

During his time at Ladymead school and The Taunton Academy, Mr Weston has seen numbers grow over the years from small musical groups to watching large numbers of pupils taking part in many performances, competitions and exhibitions, both at the school and within the wider community.

Recently, he was part of the Make Christmas Sparkle where, not only did he have a large representation from the Academy performing, but also compered the event.

With a brand new state of the art Visual and Performing Arts building under construction, ready to be opened in September, Mr Weston is proud to have worked with such fantastically talented young people who have gone on to further their education within the arts and to have inspired the next generation of young musicians currently attending the Academy.

He is taking up the role of Head of Music at Uffculme School from January.
