'Crackhouse' closure in Allington Close, Taunton
3:57pm Thursday 13th December 2012 in Taunton
A HOUSE which police say has been blighted by drug crime and anti-social behaviour has been boarded up.
Anyone trying to get into the property in Allington Close, Taunton, in the next three months could be arrested.
The ‘crackhouse’ closure order was granted by magistrates after police outlined a number of complaints from neighbours and the tenant was kicked out last Tuesday.
PC James Turner said: "This property was the source of serious and ongoing nuisance for the residents of Allington Close.
“The notice sends out a clear message that we will not tolerate such behaviour and will action where possible.”
Sgt Andy Murphy said the operation was carried out with the full support of people living in the close, who supplied valuable evidence to support the case.
He added: “This sends a clear message in itself - residents from within the Taunton East Policing area will no longer tolerate anti-social behaviour in any form and together we will continue to target those who offend, while supporting our victims and witnesses.”
Notices have been put up explaining why the property was closed down and residents have been informed of the action that was taken.
Anyone with information on drug crime or suspected criminality should contact the local policing team by calling 101 or logging on to www.avonandsomerset.police.uk
