A TOTAL of £1,176 has been raised over the past week for the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE) appeal to equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton.

Donations include £500 from Mr and Mrs Vile; £38 from Mrs O’Farrell; and £25 from Mr and Mrs Crawford.

All three left cheques at the centre. There was also £50 from Mr and Mrs Beard, and £25 from Mrs English.

Collections of 5p coins included £256.20 from the Beacon Centre, £34.65 from residents at Malthouse Court, and £12.05 from Bridget and Michael.

Collection boxes raised: £59.93 from the Esso Garage, Wellington Road, Taunton; £53.18 from Teares Newsagents, Wellington; £40.23 from Norton Fitzwarren fish and chip shop; £36.92 from Galmington One-Stop Shop; £28.83 from Rumwell Farm Shop; and £15.71 from the Constitutional Club, Bishop’s Hull.

The total raised since SURE began being supported by the County Gazette now stands at £313,228.
