A WORLD-EXCLUSIVE photograph taken by a County Gazette reader has become a Twitter sensation.

The picture - of a blob of milkshake on a Taunton pavement (above) - was captured expertly by reader Barry Nowlan and published in the paper on June 28 last year.

Initially overlooked by the online community, the picture has become an overnight hit on Twitter at the start of 2013 and has been 'retweeted' - shared with other users of the social networking site - hundreds of times.

Twitter user Tony Braisby said: "This is why I love local papers."

County Gazette news editor Andrew McGill said: "Our reader picture section is extremely popular and with high-quality photographs like Barry's, it is no surprise.

"Barry said he thought the blob looked like a sheep but others have compared it to a cloud and even other types of animal.

"Once again this proves the County Gazette is always first with the biggest and best news stories in Taunton Deane and West Somerset."

You can send your reader photographs - of blobs of milkshake or anything else - to newsdesk@countygazette.co.uk or Tweet us @CountyGazette

Looks like a pile of vomit to me, as can be seen in and around Taunton quite often. Hardly the sort of thing I'd retweet!!!

Haha. Barry was the first person I know to own a digital camera. Glad he's putting it to good use.

Just goes to show how shallow, puerile, pointless and sad Twitter and such are.
If I'd even accidentally taken that photo I would have deleted it at once.
And fancy being the originator of such a dumb tweet.....much as it may look akin to a sheep, it looks more like nothing more than a Rorschach test blob....or, more basically, something a seagull left behind.

Must be slightly brain dead to even take the time to photograph it let alone upload it so other morons can look at it.

Reflects yet again on the superb standard of reporting and items published in the Gazette.

This newspaper has gone a lot worse since Alex has taken over.

What the hell is this article all about? I am so glad that I do not spend what is it 85p or something like that to read the trash that is the SGC.

Come on sort it out.

Agreed Mark1970 & I've given up buying it now as it's lack of content & often poor standards of reporting have become a joke.

Last week's edition was my last & what a spectacularly poor excuse for a newspaper that was.

One thing that did raise a titter however, was a report referring to Shutewater Hill in Bishop's Hull as Shitewater Hill - priceless that lol!

That makes you a bigger moron for taking the time to look AND comment on it.
