AROUND 10,000 plastic ducks will be released on to the River Tone as part of a charity fundraising event.

The Great Somerset Duck Race takes place in Goodland Gardens at 11am on Saturday, March 30.

The fastest duck will earn its owner a £100 prize, with £50 for the runner-up and £25 for the third one over the winning line.

Entry is £1 per duck, with proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.

Most of that £10,000 will be spent just on staff wages and advertising anyway.
