TAUNTON Deane MP Jeremy Browne has toured Somerset Wildlife Trust’s new offices in Wellington Road, Taunton.
Afterwards, Mr Browne said: “SWT has an impressive 20,000 members - an indication of the importance local people attach to maintaining and improving our natural environment.
“SWT is involved in a remarkable range of nature projects across the county. As well as protecting the habitat of wildlife in the countryside they are also very active in urban areas like Taunton.
“It is also valuable that SWT has an educational role. Despite living in a beautiful and largely rural part of the country many local children are not familiar with the wildlife of Somerset. So it is ideal that SWT visits schools and teaches children about the natural environment in the county.”
