DID you know that there are hundreds of different opportunities to help and support the work of charities and not for profit organisations in the area?

They range from helping with administration, through working with animals and the environment, to youth work.

Charity trustees are also volunteers and joining a board of trustees can be an exciting and challenging way to use existing skills and build new ones, while supporting a good cause.

You can find out more about volunteering at an event, hosted by Engage West Somerset, in partnership with Taunton Deane Council, at The County Ground, Taunton, on Tuesday, September 23 from 5pm to 8pm.

There will be representatives from a wide range of charities available to tell you about volunteering with them, including the Girl Guides, Conquest Centre for Disabled Riders, Taunton CAB, Age UK, RSPCA South West, In the Mix Youth Project, Musgrove League of Friends, Somerset You can Do, Bridgwater and Taunton Canal Association and many more.

Engage's own Volunteer Centre staff will also be there to give information about other opportunities for volunteering in Taunton Deane and further afield.

For anyone interested in finding out more about becoming a Trustee, members of Engage's Board of Trustees will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about involvement in managing a charity.
