ATHLETE Luke Scott is hoping to win the Taunton 10k on home turf for the seventh consecutive year this weekend.

Luke is among a field of almost 600 runners in the 28th annual race which starts outside the Blackbrook Pavilion at 11am on Sunday (September 28).

The first person home is expected to clock around 33 minutes after running through Holway, out to Stoke St Mary and back to Blackbrook via Haydon Lane.

Around two-thirds of the participants are locals, with others coming from Devon and Cornwall clubs and even further afield.

Any profits from the event will go towards staging Taunton Carnival on Saturday, October 18.

Organiser John Lewis said: “We’re looking forward to Sunday and it’s looking good for the runners with calm, not too hot weather forecast.”

Look out for the results and photos in next week’s County Gazette and at somersetcountygazette.co.uk/news which will also include video coverage.
