TAUNTON’S Mayor and Mayoress were on hand to open up a photography exhibition at Bishops Lydeard Railway Station last week.

Photographer Sam Burton is holding an exhibition there as part of Somerset Arts Week.

He gave a demonstration of how photos were made in the early days.

Using a mobile darkroom and an antique bellows camera, Sam made what was likely to be the first wet processed photos at the location since the 19th Century.

Mayor Dave Durdan and Mayoress Renee took part in a workshop by having their portraits made and processed.

Mr Durdan said: “It’s unbelievable to see this process take place.”

Around 70 people attended the launch and the exhibition runs daily until October 5 from 10am to 4pm.
