THE Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment charity, which helps equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital, received donations totalling £3,562.41 last week.
A charity ball at Barleymow’s Farm Shop and Restaurant, in Chard, raised £2,500, while other donations included £10 from A. K. Boucher and £25 from Mrs E. E. Williams.
Wellington Aqua Social Group handed over £98 from a raffle on an outing to Cardiff and £103 in 5p coins.
Other 5p collections realised £22.15 from the New Horizon Singers, £5.35 from The Old Sale Rooms, Wellington, and £32.20 from Jan Biddiscombe and friends of Creech St Michael.
A collection pot at Londis, in Bridgwater, contained £29.91; P. Mansell, of Taunton, raised £87 from his and Ginatares run from Taunton to Lyme Regis and £35 from a Cake Monday event.
A donation of £25 was received from Mrs E. A. Alford, with £96 from Debenhams in lieu of their commission from the Book Events People, a £100 donation from John Wareham, of Chard, and £257 collected by Mr and Mrs Greenway, of Bathealton, at their diamond wedding party.
There was £20 from Nicola Hockey, of Bishop’s Hull, from the sale of unwanted clothes, and £116.80, including £107.20 in 5ps, from the Beacon Centre.
The total donations this week are £3,562.41, taking the amount raised since SURE linked up with the County Gazette to £461, 647.18.
