PUPILS at Bishop Henderson Primary School were treated to a fun showcase and book signing event when author David Lawrence Jones paid them a visit.

The Devon-based author visited the school as part of his national showcase tour which has now been seen by about 50,000 children.

David introduced the children to two of his publications aimed at different age groups.

Key stage one pupils 'saw' the Jig & Saw showcase; a picture book series inspired by the jigsaw logo currently used by Families for Children Adoption, of which David is a patron.

Key stage two pupils enjoyed The Amazing Adventures of Bradley Baker; a current four-part series of books based on a young boy who is sucked down the plughole into a world called Pathylon; embarking on many adventures.

David spoke to the County Gazette after his book signing and was pleased with the children's reaction to his presentation.

He said: "I really enjoyed presenting to all the children at Bishop Henderson. The younger year groups enjoyed Jig and Saw, whilst the key stage two students were totally enthused with my Bradley Baker books.

"My aim was to inspire everyone to read more books and write more stories and I wasn't disappointed with the feedback from the teaching staff. The children were all talking about the showcase and there was a real buzz around school during the book signing event."
